We received an email last night from a customer asking what they need to achieve a Microsoft Certified Solutions Associates certification. For those new to Microsoft and IT certifications in general, there are several different software products from Microsoft in which someone can achieve an MCSA. These are as follows:

Windows Server 2008

Windows Server 2012

Windows 7

Windows 8

SQL Server 2008

SQL Server 2012

Office 365.

To achieve an MCSA in Windows Server 2008, one must pass exams 70-640 Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, Configuring, 70-642 Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure, Configuring and 70-646 Windows Server 2008, Server Administrator.  There are a similar, but different, set of exams for each software application listed above required to achieve an MCSA certification.
